The History

The name of the Gallery is also the name of the street where the gallery is situated, Via della Fontanella Borghese, one of the most popular sites in the centre of Rome, between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Navona.
Spread out over  two floors and three spaces, the Gallery has a huge window, at number 31 of Via Fontanella Borghese, displaying, since its opening in 1972,  Italian and International Post War and Contemporary  works  chosen by the managers Eugenia and Simona Botti.
The focus of the Gallery has been on Roman art production of the Sixties, with artists such as Schifano, Festa, Angeli, Tacchi, Lombardo, Mambor etc.

With these and other artists, the Fontanella Borghese Gallery constantly kept track and interpreted the evolution of contemporary art at the end of the last century, but has also supported young artistic expressions, adding to the “exhibition” space also a flavour of new proposals. The reputation of the gallery does not only rely on the quality and quantity of its exhibitions, but mostly on the fact that the gallery has become an important reference point for artists, scholars and Post War and Contemporary  art collectors.
